Target Employer and Industrial Land Use Study (TEILS) Update

Land scarcity and affordable housing challenges reflect a perfect storm in Pinellas County, which is challenging elected officials to reassess the countywide land use and transportation vision as it relates to the designation of targeted employment and industrial land areas. Renaissance is working on behalf of Forward Pinellas (the regional MPO) to reassess the locational needs of target employment industries and the existing policy framework in the Countywide Plan which preserves land for high-wage jobs. The project entails employer surveys, stakeholder engagement, land use change analysis and will result in recommendations for policy refinements. At issue is how to structure a balanced approach to preservation of land for employment uses while also targeting areas for mixed use, transit served affordable housing.
