Joel is a planner at Renaissance. He received a Master of Urban and Environmental Planning degree from the University of Virginia School of Architecture, where he focused on transportation and land use. At Renaissance, Joel has worked on a variety of projects, including state department of transportation needs assessments, state highway context classification efforts, small area plans with focuses in land use and transportation, placemaking workshops, and the utilization of online tools including interactive mapping and surveys for web-based community engagement. Outside of professional planning, Joel loves exploring cities, discovering new hiking and mountain biking trails, and enjoying good company and food along the way.
