Broward County TOD and Transit Systemwide Study
Broward County Board of county Commissioners
Residents of Broward County, Florida approved a 30-year, one percent surtax for transportation goals around improving transit service countywide. The project is illustrative of the county’s long-term goals for a more comprehensive, efficient multimodal connective transportation system.
Renaissance’s role includes conducting data and analysis to identify a ‘transit ready’ network of corridors that can support premium transit based on land use and built environment conditions relative to FTA’s New Starts funding criteria. For each corridor, we are analyzing the strength of economic development by identifying traded industry clusters; multimodal suitability and internal connectivity related to the street network, walk, bike, and transit access; redevelopment potential and patterns; and ridership potential based on existing and potentially improved conditions.
We are also leading the development of the TOD planning and implementation for the shortlisted set of corridors that will advance into more detailed alternative analysis phases.
